WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) today announced that Cargill, Incorporated Chairman, President and CEO Gregory R. Page was elected to its board of directors at its January 11 board meeting. Five new member companies were also welcomed to the association at the meeting held in conjunction with the Food Marketing Institute’s Mid-Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida.

“The association is fortunate to have a proven leader and industry veteran like Greg Page seated at its board table,” said Pamela Bailey, GMA president and CEO. “His expertise will serve the membership well as the consumer packaged goods industry navigates a challenging economy and pursues an ambitious agenda.”

Page joined Cargill in 1974 as a trainee assigned to its feed division. He went on to hold a number of positions in the United States and abroad, including working with the start-up of a poultry processing operation in Thailand and Cargill’s financial markets group. In June 2000, Page was elected Cargill’s president and was elected chairman and CEO in 2007. Page is also a member of Eaton Corporation’s board of directors and chairs the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

The GMA Board also added a diverse cross-section of companies to its ranks by approving the membership applications of: American Italian Pasta Company, Giant Eagle Corporation, Perfect Puree of Napa Valley, LLC, Syngenta Corporation and Teradata Corporation.
