WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Sunday the American Dietetic Association (ADA) will honor Vice President of Science Policy, Nutrition and Health, Robert Earl, of the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), with the Medallion Award for his service and leadership to ADA and the dietetics profession. The award will be presented at the ADA Annual Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo, to be held in Chicago, October 25-28.
Mr. Earl, a registered dietitian and member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), American Public Health Association, and Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), will be recognized for providing expertise, service and leadership in the development and execution of nutrition science and policy programs and regulatory strategies in the health and nutrition industry.
“As a lifelong member of ADA, I am truly honored to receive one of this year’s Medallion Awards,” said Earl. “The continual development of solid nutrition and health policy is a top priority of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, our member companies and the food and beverage industry. It’s rewarding to be a part of such important endeavors, and especially rewarding to be recognized by ADA.”
In addition to his role as a nutrition spokesperson and advocate at GMA, Mr. Earl has been involved in the health and nutrition industry as a member and speaker of ADA’s House of Delegates, a member of the Dietetics Education and Restaurant Labeling task forces, the chair of the Nutrition Policy task force, the Association Positions and Member Value committees and co-chair of the Legislation and Public Policy Committee.
Medallion Awards, given each year since 1976, honor ADA members who have shown dedication to the high standards of the dietetics profession through active participation, leadership and devotion to serving others in dietetics and allied health fields. Mr. Earl is one of eight recipients of the award.
The winners will receive their awards at an honors breakfast during the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, where thousands of the nation’s top nutrition researchers, registered dietitians and other industry leaders will be in attendance.
