WASHINGTON, D.C. - Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) President and CEO Cal Dooley today announced that the 2009 GMA Executive Conference will be held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, August 30 – September 2, 2009.
“We are excited about these changes and see it as an opportunity to deliver an Executive Conference that is bigger and better than ever,” said Dooley. “We believe this new timing will allow more members, retail customers and other key industry players to attend, enhancing the conference’s value proposition for all participants.”
The GMA Executive Conference has been held in some form nearly every year since the association’s founding in 1908. For the last 60 years, it has been held at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia. The labor dispute at The Greenbrier which forced the conference’s cancellation earlier this year has not yet been resolved, resulting in the 2009 venue shift.
“The Executive Conference will continue to serve as the association’s flagship event. In addition to the change of venue, we are conducting a review of the event, and look forward to working with our membership to introduce changes to the conference program and content that reflect the priorities of the association, as well as a renewed emphasis on manufacturer-retailer collaboration,” concluded Dooley.
