Grocery Manufacturers Association Appoints Robert Earl as Vice President of Nutrition

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) Chief Science and Regulatory Affairs Officer Dr. Robert Brackett today announced the appointment of Robert Earl as Vice President of Nutrition. Mr. Earl previously served as Senior Director of nutrition policy for GMA.
“I am delighted that Bob will be serving in this new role of Vice President of Nutrition for GMA,” said Dr. Bracket. “He brings to the position tremendous experience in nutrition and health policy that will help GMA to continue in its commitment to be a strong and vocal advocate on behalf of the food and beverage industry.”
In his new role, Mr. Earl will lead GMA’s strategic focus in nutrition, health and wellness, and serve as spokesperson and advocate for GMA positions before the media, government, regulatory agencies, professional societies, regional and international trade organizations and other sectors.
Prior to joining GMA, Mr. Earl was vice president of public health at the International Food Information Council (IFIC) in Washington, D.C., where he directed food communications and education programs on food safety, food allergens, and nutrition topics. Before joining IFIC, he was a study director at the Food and Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, where he co-directed studies on nutrition and food labeling, and directed other nutrition and food policy studies. He also served as administrator of government affairs at the Washington office of the American Dietetic Association.
“This new position brings significant opportunities to advance GMA related to nutrition and health policy,” said Earl. “GMA serves as a critically important advocate for sound science and I look forward to playing a leadership role in contributing to this important work.”
Mr. Earl is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), American Public Health Association, and Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). Bob, a registered dietitian, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in human nutrition from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
